Things seem so insignificant right now. Can't say a whole lot because I'm very tired and I've shut down emotionally. I walked to Frostwoods Park at about midnight and stood at the center of the basketball court and I could see him doing his spin move right under the basket. Moving through everybody and then hitting his shot. Shit-eatin' grin on his face. I'm so glad that I was here in Madison this summer to play ball. I'm glad that I was at Lake Kegonsa with the dive-bomb acorns. I'm glad I was at Blue Mounds and the swimming pool.

He gave me a ride to Chicago this past summer. Got me on a plane back to my home for a week.

The last time I saw him, he gave me a ride back to my truck.

I didn't get to tell him that that girl got married.

I miss him already. I'll miss him dearly.

The Beginnings; Part 1

So part of this site is supposed to be set up as a place for me to puke out my frustration at trying to get a band off the ground and into the realm of maybe having the potential to be possibly "successful" (sheh, define successful), some day.

Today is yet another day.

Right now, the band has three members. Eleven songs that are workable and may have some "lets play that one again" merit. The current Quest has been to find a drummer who is of the right mindset and also a drummer. The ranks of people who play drums are thin as it is. Hell, I could put down my guitar and play drums for know boundaries but working with Dave is like working for a Nazi, a Jewish Nazi. The ranks of people with the right mindset are even thiner.

I have been in contact with a drummer who has limited playing experience but seems willing to give it a shot regardless. I can't complain and don't really have a problem with the green behind his ears, yet. We still have to have our first audition which may end up being this Saturday. Hmm... We'll see.

Music as a Commodity: The Art vs. The Wad; Part 1

Today was a slow start to what will soon become a nightmare of alwasy too much to do and never enought time to do it in. With a call off on the morning of oversized photocopy routines, I got my head to move slowly without the obnoxiousness of standing at a machine. Ugh.

Continuing with the idea that music has lost its aura of mystical appeal, I hoped to read that study to get a better understanding of that quote but I'm either lazy or busy, whichever you want me to be, and I've just got too much on my plate to eat more from the floor. It should then be said that I did find a Senior Thesis Proposal from some dude back in the mid-nineties "Alt. Rock" academia-fascinatia sociological interest in youth sub-culture and of course the "I love (Insert AlternaBand Name Here) and I want to write a paper about them but I have to make it relevant" mentality of most college attendees that I knew. (I had a limited circle of friends, cut me some slack.)

Like most dutiful employees though, I don't have time to read a 27 page proposal while I'm trying to notarize affidavits so I'll have to post my opinions about this idea later

Ooooh, a 'to be continued' post. How exciting!

Dead Rhino?

In the day of hard-(not)-at-work, I blundered my way through the Cable News Network's entertainment site. There's an article about Rhino Records closing. (God Bless the Hollywood Reporter! Such quality news, almost like the Isthmus.) SO... there's this line from some psychologists in the ivory tower (in England) about how "music had 'Lost its aura,' and was now viewed as simply a commodity," from a recent study they did.

If this is the case, then it's a waste of time to try to write music that's not only enjoyable to listen to but also a step above the one hit wonder phenomenon. But that's mostly the world of Pop Music. And no one with any "Street Cred" really cares about that. Right? Street Credibility is a joke anyway. And yes, it as all about money, because artists want to be able to make a living as an artist and the leeches of the music industry who can't produce but know how to sell need money too. Anyway. Shyte. What is this useless entertainment anyway?

Bah!

Begin the Fight

This is just a first post on yet another goddamn weblog by some dumb junky loudmouth with nothing better to do with his time but post and whine.

I already had my rant today. It's on mtoutburst.blogspot.com back on an older post.

I will do more with the layout of this and stuff. I bought a guitar amp today too. Yay!!! Hurray for music.
